Research on Macro-Micro Failure Mechanism of Interbedded Sandstone in the Deep of Lannigou Gold Mine

Abstract The surrounding rock of the Lannigou gold mine roadway is mainly sandstone, most which contains thin interlayers argillaceous and carbonaceous minerals. To explore deformation failure mechanism interbedded sandstones under static load caused by stress, macroscopic modes, physical properties, microscopic fracture surface characteristics were studied from different inclination angles. Triaxial compression tests scanning electron microscopy conducted. results show that peak strength specimen changes in a “spoon”-shaped pattern with increasing inclination. With confining pressure, strength, strain, residual elastic modulus specimens increase, damages interlayers. mode affected interlayer without both tensile-shear (0° 90°) composite (30° 60°) occur. Under higher effect smaller, shows shear-tensile (0°, 30°, 60°, 90°). Furthermore, propagation microcracks mineral crystals differ for modes. In this study, sandstone was identified, significant practical engineering guidance.
